My Final Circuit

On the left is my final circuit, complete with all of the parts. Learn about what I thought of the process through my reflection. It discusses how I got each part to work and its functioning in the bigger project. This is the final stage so it is also encouraged to check out the other steps leading up the final product in the following sections.

Step 1

In the first step, I went through a process of k-maps and Boolean logic in order to prepare for following steps using the m74. I wrote down and kept in mind the segments, A-G which corresponded to the segment display on the m74. I created and simplified equations that would be useful in future steps.

Step 2

On the left is my step 2 circuit which uses the Arduino to scroll through the characters of my birthday. Using the Arduino and connections to m74, I was able to have the circuit scroll through the digits of my birthday,

07-19-07. I would eventually build off this initial circuit with the Arduino, implementing the 74193, potentiometer, 555 timer, and more.

Step 3

Step 3 involved the pulser and switch to control the output on the m74. The switch reset the output at 0. The pulser cycled through the characters starting from 0 going to: 7 then - then 1 then 9 then - then 0 then 7

Step 4

This was the final step and incorporated the use of the potentiometer and capacitor. A 555 timer was added allowing the cycle of the digits to speed up and slow down. The switch also allowed the circuit output to be set at 0 where, upon flipping it, the output would continue displaying the birthday characters in order.
